JS body for boosting diplomatic efforts to solve Rohingya crisis
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the ministry of Foreign Affairs today asked the ministry concerned to further expedite diplomatic efforts at all levels in line with the Prime Minister`s directives to solve the Rohingya refugee problems.
The committee also recommended for construction of Bangladesh missions in more countries subject to availability of land and taking steps for carrying out maintenance works in missions abroad as required.
The recommendation was given at a meeting of the committee held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairperson Dr. Dipu Moni in the chair, Jatiya Sangsad sources said.
Committee members Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, Muhammad Faruk Khan, Md. Sohrab Uddin and Begum Mahzabin Khaled attended the meeting.
The meeting held a threadbare discussion on the ministry`s ongoing activities to earn international recognition of March 25 as a `Genocide Day` following taking up of a resolution in the Jatiya Sangsad in this regard.
It also discussed about the progress of different projects being implemented by the ministry and on Prime Minister`s Indonesia and her upcoming India visits.
The meeting recommended for maintaining equilibrium regarding appointment and allowances of the locally hired employees of Bangladesh missions abroad.
Foreign secretary and senior officials concerned of the Jatiya Sangsad were present.
