ISIS attack possibility in India
Citing the possibility of an ISIS attack in India, the home ministry has asked all states to review security after the Paris terror attacks in which 129 people were killed on Friday, reports NDTV.
"Though ISIS/ISIL has not been able to establish any significant presence in India, its success in radicalizing some youth, attracting certain sections of the local population/Indian diaspora to physically participate in its activities or the possibility of piggy backing on terrorist groups operating in India have opened up the possibility of ISIS-sponsored terrorist action on Indian territory," said the ministry in an advisory.
Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju, indicating a tougher stand on Islamic State sympathisers, said now cases would be registered against them. "Now stricter methods will be adopted to handle sympathisers of Isis," Mr Rijiju said. Till now, they would be let off after counselling.
The home ministry advisory asks for special security arrangements for foreign missions, tourist spots, Chabad Houses and community facilities visited by foreigners.
"Security arrangements for the diplomatic interest of France, USA, UK, Germany, Russia, Australia, Turkey and Israel may be particularly reviewed and strengthened," the home ministry said.
Islamic State terrorists stormed multiple targets in Paris on Friday, including the Bataclan theatre, the Stade de France football stadium and a pizzeria.
