Soldier killed in Pak firing along LoC in Jammu

An army soldier died on Sunday in cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.

‘A soldier has sacrificed his life in the line of duty in KG sector. We are not divulging his identity because his family has to be informed first,’ said a senior army officer at Northern Command.

Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling at Indian positions along the LoC. ‘Heavy firing by Pakistani troops is on in Salotri, Sagra areas of Krishna Ghati sector in Mendhar,’ a police source said.

Sources said small arms fire between the two sides started around 3.30 am and heavy firing started around 7:30 am.
Sunday’s unprovoked ceasefire violation on the border came after a lull of four days.

Pakistan has violated ceasefire 99 times along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, after India’s surgical strikes on September 28 on terrorist launch pads.
