Where Angels Run
Nabhan Atiquzzaman

A world where blue skies run from mountain to mountain

Where millions of curious souls run to their end

A world where the lights never cease to flicker

Where some gaze at the stars and dream

A world where billions find fulfillment in their virtual lives

While millions starve, in search of change

A world of innocence decayed to a world of grief

From the dawn of humanity

Which began with the consumption of a poison fruit out of foolishness

And the destruction of all humanity

Will lead to the exploitation of fruitful endeavors of the world

The world around us is always changing

And with the world, I have changed

From being an innocent and Naive child

untainted by the reality of the world

To now witnessing the visible struggle of existence

In places near and far

Schools have become the prison of the mind and person

Places of gathering have transcended to places of terror

My understanding of the world has changed with the world

From seeing the beauty of people to the misery they cause

The angels coming have beckoned, our calls are unheard

They served as a beacon of hope for people to call upon

But our calls are unheard as they can’t hear us as they run

They run from humanity’s lust for power, in search of new harmony

As the world gets more connected, it seems to grow further apart

As the angels run, the innocent of the world follow in their footsteps

But still…  some remain, as they deem there is beauty to be found

And they say “to run away from beauty is to give up hope for change”

But as the world falls into more disparity, humanity will follow, I lament with a sigh.
