DNCC to plant one lakh saplings

The authority of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken one lakh tree plantation programme to make green Dhaka.

DNCC mayor Anisul Haq on Sunday inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling at the premises of Monipur School and College in Mirpur.

The authority will plant one lakh saplings at the premises of 40 educational institutions in the corporation area.

PRAN-RFL and Sabuj Dhaka have jointly taken the initiatives to inspire new generation to make garden on roofs.

Anisul Haq said, “Dhaka city is five times hotter than adjacent city Gazipur or Comilla. Planting trees we can lessen it.”

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Universal Medical College and Hospital Chairman Preeti Chatterjee, Monipur School and College Principal Mohammad Farhad Hossain and PRAN-RFL Brand Manager Fahim Hossain, among others, were present there.
