Actor Farid Ali is no more

Noted actor, dramatist and valiant freedom fighter Farid Ali today breathed his last at Mirpur National Cardiac Institute at the age of 75.

The noted actor was suffering from diabetics, heart disease and old age complications and died of cardiac arrest at around 4pm today at the hospital.

He was admitted at Mirpur National Cardiac Institute on August 19. He is survived by his wife, four sons and daughter and a host of relatives to morn his death.

In 1962, Farid Ali started his acting career as a stage by performing in a stage drama named ‘Kone Dekha’ by Shahidul Amin.

Then he had performed in a huge number of stage dramas.

He first appeared in the state-run television through the ‘Ektala-Dotala’ drama of Professor Munir Chowdhury in 1964.

Farid Ali had also performed in the film. His first debut in silver screen was in 1966 by performing in a film titled ‘Darapat’ directed by Amjad Hossen.

He had entertained the people through performing different films including Sangram, Gunda, Rangbaj, Guddi, Titas Ekti Nadir Naam, Samadan, Jibon Trishna, Slogan, Chanda, Dag and Adhikar.

He made the dialogue ‘Taka Den Dubai Jabo... Bangladeshe Thakbo Na’ a very much popular one among millions of television viewers.

Quoting his son Imran Ali, it was reported that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had taken the responsibility of the deceased actor since February of this year.

His namaj-e-janaza will be held tomorrow (Tuesday). Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina expressed her deep condolence over the death of veteran actor Farid Ali.

Besides, Bangladesh Film Artists Association requested his family to bring his body at the premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) for paying tribute to the deceased actor.
