Folk singer Farida Parveen hospitalised

Renowned Lalon Sangeet singer Farida Parveen has been admitted to a hospital in Dhaka due to respiratory distress and fluid accumulation in her lungs.
Her husband, instrumentalist Gazi Abdul Hakim, said she was taken to the hospital on Saturday morning.
According to hospital sources, Farida Parveen was admitted after experiencing severe respiratory distress. Following immediate medical tests, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Doctors have confirmed that an infection has spread to her lungs. Additionally, she has underlying health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and other age-related complications. She is currently under the care of specialist in respiratory diseases, nephrology, and critical care. Her condition remains critical, and doctors have recommended dialysis.
Farida Parveen began her musical career in 1968 as a listed artist at Rajshahi Betar, where she performed Nazrul Sangeet. In the early 1970s, she gained popularity by singing patriotic songs. In recognition of her contributions to music, she received the Ekushey Padak in 1987. In 2008, she was honored with the Fukuoka Asian Culture Award from the Japanese government. Additionally, in 1993, she won the National Film Award for her contributions to film music.
