Anjana no more
Eminent actress Anjana Rahman passed away early Saturday while receiving treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital. She was 58 years old. Doctors declared her dead at approximately 1:10 am.
On November 24, Anjana was admitted to a private hospital in the capital after falling ill. She was kept in the ICU for a few days, but as her condition showed no significant improvement, she was transferred to BSMMU Hospital on the night of January 1. Due to further deterioration in her health, she was put on life support that night. While on the ventilator, her condition fluctuated, with occasional improvements followed by worsening.
Anjana began her acting career in 1976, debuting in the film ‘Setu’, directed by Babul Chowdhury. However, her first released film in the same year was ‘Dossu Bonhur’, in which she starred alongside Sohail Rana. Throughout her career, Anjana acted in over 300 films and also worked in films across 13 languages in 9 different countries.
