Kangana Ranaut gets dengue but continues to work on Emergency
Kangana Ranaut is down with dengue but that could not stop the actor from working on the sets of her directorial debut, Emergency. Kangana has a low white blood cell count and is suffering from high fever. She was diagnosed with dengue on Monday.
An Instagram post from the official handle of her production house Manikarnika Films revealed that Kangana has been working despite being unwell, reports Hindustan Times.
The message read as, "When you are down with dengue, alarmingly low white blood cell count and high fever and yet you land at work, it's not passion its madness...our chief @kanganaranaut is such an inspiration." Kangana was quick to thank her team and responded with, "Thank you team @manikarnikafilms body gets ill not the spirit…thanks for the kind words."
Kangana will be seen as India's first and only woman prime minister, late Indira Gandhi in the film that she is directing. The film is written by Ritesh Shah, who also wrote her previous film Dhaakad. Earlier this year, Kangana had told fans that renowned Hollywood prosthetic makeup artist David Malinowski would be working on her looks for the film Emergency. She impressed most with her first look teaser for the film that released a few weeks ago.
Talking about the film, Kangana had told ANI recently, "They (audiences) want to involve themselves much more with the narrative and the narrative should also be focused on them. The Emergency is an undeniable part of recent history and I feel that this will click with the audience. Since the teaser has dropped it's been trending at number 1, it has taken the nation by storm and it is a validation of the fact that this is what people are starved for. It's not that people don't want content, they want to see young filmmakers, new thought process, and refreshing ideas and not the stale typical formula films. I do believe that my instinct as a filmmaker will pay off big time."
Earlier, she co-directed her period drama, Manikarnika The Queen of Jhansi, with Krish. This is also the second time that Kangana will play a real life character - she first appeared in a biopic on former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
