Charges pressed against actress Eka in drug case

Police have pressed charges against film actress Eka in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Hatirjheel Police Station deputy inspector Monir Mondal confirmed the matter to Jago News on Thursday.

He said investigation officer SI Md Faisal submitted the charge-sheet in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam on January 11.

Earlier on July 31, two cases, including the one mentioned above, were filed against Eka with Hatirjheel Police Station for allegedly torturing her domestic help, and possessing drugs.

On the day, police arrested Eka from her Hatirjheel house in the capital on the charge of torturing house help.

The law enforcers said they also recovered five pieces of Yaba pills, around 50 grams of hemp, and a half bottle of liquor from her possession.

It was learned that actress Eka hit her domestic help with brick after she had demanded her two-month wage arrears., leaving her injured.

Hatirjheel Police Station officer in-charge Abdur Rashid said they found injury marks on the hand, leg, and head of the victim.
