Pori Moni's costume designer Jimy remanded

Dhallywood actress Pori Moni's costume designer Junayed Karim Jimy has been remanded for three days in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masudur Rahman passed the order after police produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand in custody.

The detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police lodged the case with Banani Police Station.

Earlier on Friday night, the detectives detained Jimy along with 'Yaba pills' and took him into their custody for interrogation.

His detention came three days after the Rapid Action Battalion had conducted a drive at the home of actress Pori Moni at Banani in the capital on Wednesday and held her.

The law enforcers said they also recovered a huge amount of narcotics from her residence.

At that time, RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Khandaker Al Moin said they conducted the raid based on some specific allegations against her.

Hours after her detention, the elite force conducted another drive at the home of film producer Nazrul Islam Raj at Banani and nabbed him.

RAB said they also recovered drugs, and materials used to create pornographic films from his house.

Earlier on July 1, police in separate drives detained two models - Faria Mahbub Piasha and Moriom Akter Mou - from the capital's Baridhara and Mohammadpur areas respectively.

In a press briefing after the raids, Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch Joint Commissioner Harun Ur Rashid had said Piasha and Mou are the members of a gang.

Their houses were raided as part of an investigation into the allegations of blackmailing many people against them, he said.

The police official also said foreign alcohol, Yaba pills, and leads were seized from their houses, and Mou's house had a liquor bar, too.
