Poonam Pandey arrested for COVID-19 lockdown violation

Indian film actress and model Poonam Pandey was on Sunday, arrested for the violation of the ongoing nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, according to sources.

Born on 11 March, the 29-year-old Poonam Pandey is an Indian film actress and model. She is popularly known for her work in Bollywood and Telugu cinema.

Pandey made headlines after she became one of the top nine contestants of the Gladrags Manhunt and Mega model Contest. She also appeared on the cover page of the fashion magazine.

Pandey's legal battle with Raj Kundra
Pandey also made news after she filed a complaint in the Bombay High Court against actress Shilpa Shetty's husband, businessman Raj Kundra, and his associates in February this year.

Pandey had alleged that Kundra and his associates were illegally using content featuring her despite the termination of the contract between the two parties.

However, Kundra and his associate Saurabh Kushwah later denied Pandey's charge. They had even claimed that they have not received any notice.

India under lockdown
India is currently under a COVID-19 lockdown to combat the fast-spreading disease. It had initially started as a 21-day lockdown period and was scheduled to be lifted on April 14th was extended by two weeks till May 3 and two more weeks till May 17.

As of now, India has 62939 coronavirus cases - out of which, 41472 cases are currently active. As per the latest data by the Health Ministry, 19357 people have so far recovered from the illness while 2109 people have lost their lives in connection with the virus.
