Musician Subir Nandi on life support at CMH
Noted musician and Ekushey Padak award winner Subir Nandi was placed on life support at Combined Military Hospital in the capital on Sunday night.
He was admitted to CMH around 10 pm and placed on life support around 11 pm.
He will be under observation for 72 hours, said his doctors.
He suffered a heart attack after taking him to emergency department of the hospital, said Nandi’s relative Tripty Kar.
Nandi’s daughter Falguni Nandi said they were returning to Dhaka by train after attending a family programme in Sylhet. Her father felt sick when the train reached Uttara around 9 pm. Later he was admitted to CMH.
Nandi has been suffering from old-age complications including kidney disease for long, Falguni added.
To be noted, Nandi won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer five times for his performance in the films Mahanayak (1984), Shuvoda (1986), Srabon Megher Din (1999), Megher Pore Megh (2004) and Mohua Sundori (2015). He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2019 by the Government of Bangladesh.
