17th Dhaka Int’l Film Fest to begin Thursday
The 17th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF)-2019 will begin tomorrow with the theme ‘Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society’.
The Rainbow Film Society is going to organise the festival where 220 international films of 72 countries including Bangladeshi films will be screened under the categories of Asian Competition, Retrospective, Bangladesh Panorama and Cinema of the World, Children’s Films, Spiritual Films, Women Filmmakers, Short and Independent Films, reports BSS.
The films will be displayed at Shawkat Osman Memorial auditorium of Bangladesh Central Public Library, Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum, Alliance Francaise Auditorium and Blockbuster Cinema halls.
“As part of the festival, many filmmakers, actors and personalities from more than 60 countries are expected to attend the ‘Fifth Dhaka International Conference on Women in Cinema 2019’ at the Gallery of the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) on January 11-12,” a Rainbow Film Parliament official told BSS.
The organization has been arranging the festival to promote a healthy cine culture in Bangladesh since 1977. The festival will continue till January 18.
