Ayub Bachchu’s janaza in Dhaka on Friday
Legendary guitarist-songwriter-singer Ayub Bacchu’s first namaz-e-janaza is scheduled to be held at National Eidgah Ground in Dhaka after Jummah prayers on Friday.
Confirming the news, Nasir Uddin Yousuf, former president of Sammalito Sanskritik Jote said that the body of Ayub Bachchu would be kept in the hospital on Thursday.
His body will be taken to his home city Chattorgram following the first namaz-e-janaza at National Eidgah Ground in Dhaka after Jummah prayers on Friday, he said.
Ayub Bacchu will be laid to eternal rest next to the graveyard of his mother in his village, he added.
He breathed his last around 10:15am at Square Hospital in the capital, according to his family source.
Bachchu is well known for his distinctive headgear and guitars. Even though he started out as a Rock musician he eventually branched out to the more mainstream music of Bangladesh.
He was born in Chittagong on 16 August 1962. He started his music career with the band “Feelings” in 1978. From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of Souls as lead guitarist.
In 1991, he formed his own band “LRB”. “LRB” released its first album as a double album, which contained hard rock songs like “Ghum Vanga Shohore” “Madhobi” and “Hoker” “Sesh Cithi keno amon Cithi hoy” “Happy” “Dhakar Sondha”. This was first Double Album in Bangla Music History.
