Bangladeshi film ‘Doob’ in the final list of Oscar
Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s Doob (No bed of Roses) has been qualified in the final list of 87 movies to compete for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 91st Academy Awards, popularly known as Oscars.
Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has revealed the final list of 87 movies from 87 countries on Tuesday last, reports screendaily.com.
Earlier, on September 23, Oscar Bangladesh Committee nominated ‘Doob’ between the two films, Komola Rocket and Doob, to compete in the Foreign Language Film Award category in the Oscars.
Prior to this, Farooki’s film Television (2012) represented Bangladesh at the 86th Academy Awards.
The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will be held on February 24, 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
Doob, a Bangladesh-India joint venture film, stars Bollywood actors Irrfan Khan, Parno Mittra and local actresses Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Rokeya Prachy in the lead roles.
The film, produced jointly by local production house Jaaz Multimedia and Indian house Eskay Movies along with Irrfan Khan, was released in October 2017.
