Mahrat of ‘Operation Jackpot’ movie on Sept 16

The Mahrat of ‘Operation Jackpot’, a movie based-on historic operation of the Naval Commandos during the War of Liberation, will be held on September 16, reports BSS.

The Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) is going to make the movie in a bid to project the historic incident of the War of Liberation before the future generation, said a press release here on Sunday.

This was informed at a preparatory meeting ahead of the movie ‘Operation Jackpot’ held at the conference room of the Ministry of Shipping with its Minister Shajahan Khan in the chair.

The main objective of the movie was to make ineffective the sea and river ports of the country so that the West Pakistan could not attack the then Bangladesh (East Pakistan).

After getting the signal from a song broadcast from the ‘Swadhin Bangla Beter Kendro’, the Naval Commandos launched attack simultaneously at Chattogram and Mongla Sea Ports alongside Narayanganj and Chandpur river ports on early August 15 in 1971 which made the West Pakistan at a loss.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Nur, Shipping Secretary M Abdus Samad, CPA member (Admin) Jafor Alam and Film Director Giasuddin Selim were present, among others, at the meeting.
