3-day performance art fest begins in city

A three-day performance art festival began on the art gallery premises at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) here today, reports BSS.

BSA organised the festival with a view to presenting culture and heritage of the capital city Dhaka to the people living across the globe.

“Cultural heritage of Dhaka has already attracted people from all over the world… this history will be upheld through our festival in phases,” said BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the inaugural session of the festival.

“Performance art, an experimental art form, is a performance presented to an audience within a fine art context usually in interdisciplinary way…,”BSA Fine Arts Division official Sujan Mahbub said. People of the country are increasingly interested in performance art because audiences can enjoy this performance directly, he added. Recently, the Bangladeshi artists achieved great reputation by performing this performance art during the China tour.

The festival will end on July 28.
