Mukesh Ambani to co-produce Aamir’s ‘Mahabharata’?
It is not unknown that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s dream project is to bring the Hindu tale of Mahabharata alive on celluloid. Aamir has time and again spoken excitedly about the project and now it looks like it will happen sometime soon.
If a report in Mid-Day is to be believed, Aamir is all set for his most ambitious endeavour with a budget of over Rs 1,000 crore and apparently, India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani will co-produce the film with Aamir. Interestingly, a source revealed to the tabloid that it would be a "one-off" engagement.
Talking about the project, Aamir had earlier told a leading magazine, "My dream project is to make the Mahabharata but I’m afraid of starting the project as I know it will consume at least 15-20 years of my life."
Revealing his favourite character, Aamir told PTI, "My favourite character is Karna, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to play him due to my physique. I may just have to play Krishna. I also liked the character of Arjun. He was the only person who asked Krishna why he had to kill his own people."
Meanwhile, the report further suggests that Mahabharata will be made in three to five parts, to be helmed by different filmmakers. Buzz is that international writers are likely to be roped in to pen the epic storyline in order to give it a global appeal. The franchise, which is currently in the ideation and pre-production stage, is said to take up the next decade or so of Aamir’s life.
