Jalal`s Story awarded best in Portugal

Bangladeshi debutant filmmaker Abu Shahed Emon’s film ‘Jalal’s story’ has won the prestigious award for the best film in the 19th Avanca International Film Festival held in Portugal from July 20 to 26. At the same time Mosharraf Karim, one of the lead casts of the film, bagged the best actor’s award in the festival.

According to the festival committee, of some 2200 films from 121 countries, 118 films were selected for the competition section of the festival this year, amongst which Jalal’s story had been voted to be the best.

Jalal’s Story, produced by Impress Telefilm, participated in the New Current section of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival as the very first entry from Bangladesh last year and won the best debutant director’s award in 7th Jaipur International Film Festival earlier this year. Jalal also travelled in Goa International Film Festival in India, Fazr International Film Festival in Iran and Fiji International Film festival and was acclaimed by the critics and audience as well.
