flick Aranyadeb to star Mir, Jisshu
The first superhero flick in Tollywood is already on its way. That`s the latest buzz doing the rounds in tinselville. Debasish Sen Sharma aka Mickey is set to make Aranyadeb-his second film after Bicycle Kick.
Though the film is not an adaptation of the Phantom comic strip, it will see a marriage of the real and the unreal. The director has roped in Jisshu Sengupta and Mir to play pivotal roles.
The movie will show the city in two avatars -ultramodern and laidback. "It`s the story of two best friends, Aranya and Deb, who spent their childhood in the preglobalized Kolkata of the `80s and drifted by destiny, meet again after 25 years.
There`s some magic on the day they meet, but I`m not ready to divulge the details yet," said the director. Mickey, who grew up on Aranyadeb comics, Akashvani and pujor natok, says his film is a tribute to this city. While I was working on some other script, this story emerged.
My friend Kaustav has also contributed to the story in a big way," added Mickey Jisshu will play Aranya, while Mir will get under the skin of Deb. There will be at least 50 other characters and the director is planning to cast rank newcomers. "The real protagonist of the film is its story. The screenplay has been designed with simplest of emotions in a complicated narrative structure. Also, there are movements in timeline. We`ve already got good feedback for the screenplay," informed Mickey.
Jisshu, who knows the director for long, too is not willing to divulge the storyline. "Mickey is a talented director, who is clear about what he wants. All I can say is that the story is the king. Though it`s primarily about two friends, there are superhero elements in it," said Jisshu.
