Shahrukh accused of insulting the Islamic community with Raees
It’s definitely not a good news for Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. After watching the trailer of Raees which released a few days back, Shia community has now lodged a complaint against the film for hurting Islamic sentiments.
Yes, turns this particular scene where Shah Rukh is seen jumping over a Muharram procession carrying alame Mubarak (Islamic flag) is being considered as a sign of disrespect. Mail Today even has a copy of the letter which demands that either Shah Rukh removes that scene or they’ll be forced to protest against the film.
In interaction with Mail Today, the complainant Jeshaan Haider of Gajipur village, who runs an NGO called Public Protection Movement Organisation said, ‘Shah Rukh Khan has insulted the alame mubarak by jumping over the holiest Shahihe Mubarak of Imama Hussain. Such a scene that hurts the religious sentiments of the Shia community can neither be shown nor considered for entertainment. If the scene is not deleted, we will organise a protest throughout India. We will move court and file a petition in this regard.”
Another Shia leader, Kamran Haider from Okhla, further added in fury, ‘We cannot tolerate anyone disrespecting our holy master, a master who not only sacrificed his own life, but also led a miserable life with his family to keep Islam alive. Khan and the director should know that his family was very underprivileged.’
From the little that we know, the petition has been filed in the district court of Jaunpur. Speaking of which, influential Shia cleric from Lucknow, Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad Naqvi, said, ‘I never watch movies, but when I saw this particular stunt in the movie’s trailer, I was shocked. This is wrong. Mr Khan should know that such religious rituals are followed by Shias to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. We have organised a huge protest in this regard. I hope appropriate action would be taken.”
For all the ignorant, an alame is considered to be a religious flag in Islam and is said to be carried by Prophet Muhammed, Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Abbas ibn Ali during battles or expeditions. The battle of Karbala further glorifies its importance.’
While a senior police officer has confirmed about the complaint that was filed on Friday. It’s left to see how will Shah Rukh and Team Raees respond to this uncalled protests. Will they delete the scene all together? Or will they justify in defense? Not to forget, Raees is already in news for starring Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and the plot which revolves around famous underworld don, Abdul Latif. Although SRK met MNS chief Raj Thackeray last night and came to an agreement over Mahira. But how will he escape this fuss surrounding hurting religious sentiments?
