Pori Moni shares her harrowing jail experience

Porimoni, a prominent name in the film industry, has made a mark with her performances in numerous movies and domestic OTT productions. Renowned for her talent and charm, she has recently taken a step back from the limelight to embrace motherhood, as evident from her vibrant social media posts.

However, the actress is now ready to return to acting after her maternity leave, with her first web series, Rangila Kitab, set to premiere on an OTT platform on November 8. 

In the lead-up to the release, Porimoni has been engaging with various media outlets, sharing insights into her life and career. During a recent interview with at ATN Bangla, she was asked about her time spent in jail and the lessons learned from that challenging experience.

"I was sent to jail. Did I learn something good from that? Living among drug addicts taught me a lot of swearing; it was a constant presence there," Porimoni recalled, her voice tinged with the weight of her past.

Reflecting on her time behind bars, she described the stark reality of life in jail. "Every inmate has a story. Many have been incarcerated over 40 times. It's a whole different world," she noted. 

"Some walk around with blades in their mouths, and there's a lot of grouping and gossiping, bitching. Spending time in jail is incredibly difficult; there’s little to do. People often fight on purpose just to pass the time. I made sure to jot down those memories."

Despite the harsh conditions, Porimoni forged connections with many fellow inmates. "I developed good relationships with several people. When I finally left jail, many were visibly upset. They cried as I walked out. There was a shared happiness—an understanding that we had lived through something together," she shared, her eyes reflecting a mix of sorrow and resilience.

On August 4, 2021, Porimoni was arrested during a four-hour raid conducted by RAB, where various drugs were reportedly found in her home. She spent 26 days in jail, a harrowing experience that has now become a chapter of her life she feels compelled to share.

As she prepares for her comeback in Rangila Kitab, Porimoni carries with her not only the lessons from her time away but also a renewed sense of purpose. The world may have cast shadows on her journey, but she emerges ready to shine once again.
