RSC calls for nationwide student strike to protest Gaza genocide

The Revolutionary Students' Council has announced a nationwide student strike on Monday, aligning with a global movement demanding an immediate end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Palestine.
The call for action was issued in a press release signed by Yamin Sarkar, Assistant Member Secretary of the Revolutionary Students' Council, on Sunday.
The press release highlights that the ethnic cleansing campaign targeting Palestinians in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has now entered its most devastating phase. The town of Rafah has been completely isolated from the rest of Gaza, while intensified military operations have brought widespread destruction to areas like Khan Yunis and Jabalia. Even in the West Bank, Israeli occupying forces have escalated their violence, resulting in horrific killings and widespread suffering among Palestinians.
In response to this escalating crisis, the Revolutionary Students' Council has joined a global strike urging the closure of offices, courts, and educational institutions worldwide on Monday.
The aim is to compel the United Nations, the Muslim world, and the broader international community—criticized for their inaction—to take immediate steps to protect Palestinians and hold Israel accountable for its military aggression.
The statement emphasised the need for urgent intervention, saying: "We cannot remain silent while the Palestinian people face annihilation. It is imperative that we stand in solidarity with Gaza and demand justice for the countless lives lost."
The Revolutionary Students' Council has urged all citizens and student communities across Bangladesh to actively participate in the strike. Participants are encouraged to organise processions in support of Gaza and ensure the strike is observed in their respective institutions.
Monday’s strike represents a coordinated effort by activists worldwide to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians and demand accountability for the atrocities committed against them.
As part of this global movement, Bangladesh’s students aim to demonstrate their unwavering solidarity with Gaza and contribute to the fight for justice and peace in Palestine.
