Students demand one-month delay for SSC exams

A group of students has demanded the deferment of the SSC and equivalent exams, which are scheduled to begin on April 10. They have called for the exams to be postponed by at least one month and requested a three- to four-day break between each exam.
The students, who made this demand, have stated that they will stage a sit-in at the Central Shaheed Minar to press their two-point demands. They also plan to launch a non-cooperation movement, pledging not to participate in the exams or cooperate with any related activities.
In a press release sent to the media on Thursday (April 3), the students, under the banner of ‘SSC Candidates 2025,’ highlighted their demands. The release states that, during the holy month of Ramadan, more than 19 students were unable to adequately prepare for their exams due to fasting. Since the exams are scheduled immediately after Eid, students have not had enough time to prepare, which could lead to poor results. Therefore, they argue that a one-month delay would allow them to prepare more effectively.
The notification further mentions that extreme heat is expected in April and May. It will be difficult to take exams continuously in such heat, and students may fall ill. Additionally, most exam centers are located far from the students' residences. Hence, the students insist on revising the exam schedule to allow a three- to four-day gap between each exam.
According to the exam routine released by the education boards, the SSC, Dakhil, and SSC (Vocational) exams are set to begin on April 10. The written exams for SSC under the nine general education boards will end on May 13, while the written exams for Dakhil under the Madrasa Board will conclude on May 15. The practical exams will continue until May 22.
