RUET scraps 4 BCL activists’ studentship

The Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, RUET, authorities have cancelled for life the studentship of four activists of banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League, BCL.
The authorities also took disciplinary action against 48 other leaders and activists of BCL.
RUET sources said the decision was taken in a meeting of the academic disciplinary committee held with Vice-chancellor Prof SM Abdur Razzaque in the chair on Wednesday, February 26.
The expelled students were RUET unit BCL president Fahmid Latif Lion, general secretary Soumik Shaha, Shswata Shaha Sagar and Mrinmoy Kanti Biswash.
Sources said the RUET authorities has expelled the students as they were found guilty of attacking the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement in July and August last year.
Earlier, the RUET authorities formed a probe committee to inquiry into the allegation of attacking the students protesting against the fascist regime.
Finally, the RUET administration took the expulsion decision as per the report of the probe committee, the sources added.
