Taskforce recommends unified university entrance exam

The Economic Reform Taskforce, formed by the interim government, has recommended a unified entrance examination for both public and private universities. If implemented, a preliminary outline of how the exam will be conducted has also been provided.
This information was revealed in a report submitted by the taskforce to Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus on January 30, titled "Re-strategising the Economy and Mobilising Resources for Equitable and Sustainable Development."
According to the report, a unified entrance exam has been proposed for all public and private universities. The exam methodology will be based on internationally recognized standards, such as the SAT and GRE.
Additionally, the report suggests that student politics should be completely banned on the campuses of all public and private universities in the country.
The taskforce emphasizes that strengthening the primary, secondary, and higher education systems is essential for Bangladesh's sustainable development. To overcome challenges in the education system, including issues with quality, infrastructure, and equity, the task force calls for a coordinated effort from the government, private sector, and NGOs.
