Govt renames 13 universities named after Sheikh family
The government has decided to rename 13 universities named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Advisroy Council of the interim government on Thursday morning, January 16.
A notification would soon be issued in this regard.
Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, shared this information in a Facebook post.
Sources in the Secondary and Higher Education Division, and The University Grants Commission, UGC, also confirmed the matter.
Sheikh Hasina University, Netrakona was renamed Netrakona University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj renamed Kishoreganj University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Naogaon renamed Naogaon University, and Meherpur Mujibnagar University renamed Meherpur University.
The name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University was changed to Gazipur Agriculture University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Shariatpur Agriculture University changed to Shariatpur Agriculture University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University changed to Bangladesh Digital University, Bangamata Sheikh Fajilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University, Jamalpur changed to Jamalpur Science and Technology University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur changed to Pirojpur Science and Technology University.
