7 college students demand admission tests under separate entity
The students from seven colleges affiliated to Dhaka University, DU, have demanded the issuance of a notification establishing an independent university with the coordination of the colleges within a month and taking admission tests under it from this year.
They made the demand in a press briefing on the Dhaka College campus on Saturday afternoon, January 4.
On December 30, the government formed a four-member high-level expert committee to make the outline of an independent institutional framework equivalent to a university for the seven colleges and the committee said it will complete the task within four months.
In the briefing, Abdur Rahman, spokesman of the movement seeking the transformation of the seven colleges into an independent university, said the committee must publish a notification establishing an independent university within a month, not in four months.
They also said the admission tests of the seven colleges will have to be held under a separate structure from the 2024-25 seesion as they will no longer accept any entry tests under the Dhaka University.
