4 universities get new vice-chancellors

The interim government has appointed new vice-chancellors to four public universities, including Chattogram University, CU, and Jagannath University, JnU.

The Secondary and Higher Education Division issued separate notifications appointing them on Wednesday (September 18).

Dr Muhammad Yahia Akhter, a professor (retd) in the Political Science Department at CU, has become the new vice-chancellor of the university while JnU Social Work dept professor (retd) Dr Md Rezaul Karim has been made its VC.

Dr Md Shawkat Ali, a professor in the Applied Mathematics dept at Dhaka University, has been appointed VC of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur while Dr Md Jahangir Alam, a professor in the Sociology dept at DU, has been made VC of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh.
