Two professors from Dhaka University (DU) have been appointed as full-time members of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the highest regulatory body for all public and private universities.

They are Dr Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan of the International Relations Department and Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossain of the Sociology Department.

They will serve as full-time members of the UGC for the next four years.

A gazette notification, signed by Dr Md Farhad Hossain, Deputy Secretary of Private University-1 Branch of the Ministry of Education, was issued in this regard on Thursday.

Earlier on September 5, the government appointed Dr SMA Faiz, a former professor in the Department of Soil, Water and Environment at DU, as chairman of the UGC.
