Dhaka College, Ideal College students clash at Science Lab
A violent clash erupted between students of Dhaka College and Ideal College on Tuesday afternoon, reportedly triggered by an assault on a Dhaka College student.
The confrontation took place shortly after 1:00pm at the Science Lab intersection, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to sources, tensions flared when Dhaka College students alleged that one of their peers, identified as Pavel, was beaten by students from Ideal College. In retaliation, Dhaka College students armed with sticks took to the streets, escalating the situation into a full-scale confrontation.
During the clash, Dhaka College students were seen removing the signboard of Ideal College, further intensifying the hostilities. Several chases occurred between the two groups, leaving several students injured. The exact cause of the initial altercation remains unclear.
Assistant Commissioner of Police for the New Market Zone, Tariq Latif, confirmed the incident, saying, "Students of Ideal College allegedly assaulted a Dhaka College student named Pavel. In response, Dhaka College students launched a retaliatory attack."
Law enforcement, including additional police forces, were deployed to the area to contain the situation. Later, army personnel were called in to restore order.
Dhaka College students eventually retreated to their campus, though tensions remain high. Authorities are working to de-escalate the situation and prevent further violence.
