DU VC Maksud Kamal steps down

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal has stepped down in the face of students’ demand.

He submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Education on Saturday (August 10).

Besides, provosts of seven halls of residence submitted their resignation letters.

Kamal, also serves as a professor in the Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience, was made DU’s 29th VC on October 15, 2023.

He earlier served as the president of Dhaka University Teachers' Association for four consecutive terms.

Prof Kamal graduated with a BSc (Honors) from the University of Dhaka in 1988, and in 1989, he earned an MSc in Environmental Geology obtaining 1st class in both the examinations.
