The Primary and Mass Education Ministry has shut down all primary schools in 8 city corporation areas across the country for an indefinite period amid the ongoing quota reform protests.

However, classes will continue as usual in primary schools outside the city corporation areas.

The directive was issued on Wednesday through a press release signed by M.A. Khayer, the ministry’s Senior Information Officer.

It is mentionable that, at least six people were killed in Rangpur, Chattogram, and Dhaka, with more than 400 injured across the country in ongoing protests over quotas for government jobs on Tuesday.
