Students against the quota system in the government jobs have lifted their blockade at the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka after around six hours.

They lifted the blockade at about 6:10 pm on Thursday, announcing new programs.

Nahid Hasan, one of the coordinators of ‘Boishomyabirodhi Chhatra Andolon’, said they will campaign on Friday through online and offline and the program will be coordinated with all educational institutions across the country.

They will also hold processions at 3 pm on Saturday, and boycott classes and exams on Sunday at all universities and colleges, he said.

Earlier, students from various dormitories of Dhaka University under the banner of the ‘Boishomyabirodhi Chhatra Andolon’ (The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement) blocked the Shahbagh intersection around 12:15 pm demanding the reinstatement of the 2018 gazette notification scrapping the quota system in the first and second class government jobs.
