Rajshahi schools to remain closed for 2 days amid cold wave

The government on Saturday evening decided to keep the secondary schools closed for Sunday and Monday, and primary schools for Sunday as the minimum temperature in the district dipped below 10 degrees Celsius.

Saidul Islam, district primary education officer in Rajshahi, said that they had ordered the closure of all the primary-level educational institutions in the district for Sunday due to the ongoing cold weather conditions.

“After observing the weather on Sunday, the next decision will be announced,” he added.

A notice issued by Dr Shormin Ferdous Chowdhury, deputy director at Secondary and Higher Education, Rajshahi Region, all secondary-level educational institutions have been shut for Sunday and Monday as the temperature in the district has fallen below 10 degrees Celsius. 

Rahidul Islam, Officer-in-charge at Rajshahi office of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said the district witnessed 9.8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature on Saturday.
