All edu institutions shut in Kurigram due to cold wave

All primary and secondary schools have been declared closed in Kurigram district due to cold wave. 

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Kurigram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Saidul Arif on Thursday said all educational institutions have been declared shut as mild cold wave is sweeping over the district.  

Kurigram Rajarhat Agricultural Meteorological Observatory office source said, the district recorded the season’s lowest minimum temperature at 9 degrees Celsius at 9am.

Earlier on Tuesday, the government in directives said that administrations can keep the primary and secondary schools shut if temperature of a district dips to 10 degrees Celsius or below of this.

According to the directives, the regional deputy directors of primary and secondary educations, in consultation with the district education officers concerned, may keep the primary and secondary levels educational institutions closed if the district witnesses maximum temperature 10 degrees Celsius or below 10 degree Celsius (as per weather forecast of the concerned meteorological office). Those institutions will remain closed until maximum temperature rises to 10 degrees Celsius or above.
