Flood: Edu instts to remain shut in 4 dists for 2 days

All educational institutions will remain closed in four districts on Wednesday and Thursday due to flood and heavy rainfall.

The four districts are Chattogram, Bandarban, Cox’s Bazar and Khagrachhari.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said this at a press briefing at International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Tuesday.  

Earlier on Monday, the authorities of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and the Directorate of Madrasa Education announced that all educational institutions in Chattogram Metropolitan area will remain closed on Tuesday due to the prevailing natural calamity.

However, members of Bangladesh Army have been deployed to manage the flood situation and landslides in Chattogram and Bandarban.

In Bandarban, more than one thousand houses were inundated by flood water. The power supply remained cut off in most of the areas in the district as flood situation worsened.
