HC rules for awarding 10th grade to primary assistant teachers

The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why assistant teachers of government primary schools across the country shall not be given 10th grade.

A High Court Division bench comprising Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Md Suhrawardy passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard, reports BSS.

Secretaries of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Public Service Commission and the related parties have been asked to respond to the rule.

Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Sumon and Advocate Zahirul Islam heard the writ in court. Deputy Attorney General Kazi Mainul Hasan appeared for the state.

Earlier, on Thursday, November 10, Md Mahbubur Rahman, assistant teacher of Joypurhat Primary School, filed a writ in the High Court on behalf of 15 teachers of different districts.

In the writ, the petitioner asked for directions from the higher authorities, to give assistant teachers of government primary schools the 10th grade.
