SSC exams may begin in August
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations may start in August as the country's flood situation has not yet returned to normal.
The Inter-Education Board took the decision in a meeting on Sunday.
In this regard, the board's Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarker told Jago News that the SSC and its equivalent exams will begin in August if the flood situation comes to normalcy.
He said, "More than half of the (exam) centers in Sylhet are still being used as shelter centers. It will take time to make these suitable for holding exams again.
"That is why taking exam in July is not possible. The exam will probably start in August if the flood situation returns to normal."
About the specific date, he said, "We will meet on the matter after Eid. Then, we can fix the new date of the exam."
Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations were scheduled to be held from June 19 but a huge flood in the country's several areas, including Sylhet, forced the authorities concerned to suspend the exams.
