DPS STS School hosts DPS Model UN Conference
DPS STS School Dhaka successfully hosted fourth DPS Model United Nations (DPSMUN IV) conference on the 13th, 14th and 15th February 2020.
Sponsored by Pran RFL Group, AB Bank, and Royal Malabar Jewellers, the event boasted almost 430 students coming from 33 different schools in Bangladesh.
Organised by a group of 75 students from the school in the lead of Secretary General, Abrar Awsaf Khan, President, Faiza Tasnim Zaman and Director General, Ibnath Fariha - DPSMUN IV much like it’s predecessors was a big success.
For our conference, we had left no stone unturned in ensuring that our delegates received the best experience possible, encompassing both the development of key communication, research and diplomacy skills as well as providing an avenue for high school students to interact in a stimulating environment and come up with real time solutions to conflicts affecting the international community.
Our Opening Ceremony was honoured with the presence of Chief Guest, Mr. Andrew Homden, CEO of Consilium Education Ltd. and Educational Advisor of DPS STS School Dhaka and Special Guest, Mrs. Baby Rani Karmakar, Deputy Secretary United Nations 6 Economics Relations Divisions, Ministry Of Finance.
With more than 30 executive board members chairing a total of 13 simulations of United Nations Councils, our delegates spent hours on sessions that tackled worldwide issues, building solutions and awareness.
To inaugurate the opening ceremony, Vice Principal Madhu Wal said "This conference gives students real-life experience in writing, leadership, teamwork and persuasive skills and greater knowledge of global issues. No other programme offers this opportunity like a MUN, to develop the kind of skillset and understanding of the world that they need to be to become active and contributing citizens."
