DU student burned dead in Chawkbazar fire

A student of Dhaka University was burnt to death in a fire that broke out at a chemical warehouse in Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka on Wednesday night.  

The deceased was identified as Md Kawsar Ahmed, a student of Management department of DU, hailing from Cumilla. 

His body was kept at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). 

Hearing the news, Kawsar’s family members including his mother Nurunnahar rushed to Dhaka from Homna upazila.

Kawsar’s friend Shariful Alam said he (Kawsar) was a very hard worker and meritorious student. He used to run a pharmacy and live in Old Dhaka. The fire that broke out at a warehouse also burnt Kawsar and six others alive including their pharmacy.  

Kawsar’s elder brother Elias said his dream was to be a banker but the fire ended his life and dream.

To be noted, the death toll rose to 70 in a fire that broke out at a chemical warehouse in Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka on Wednesday night.
