Prof Shahid made VC of Eastern University

Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain joined as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Eastern University on Thursday. He was the former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University and served as a professor in the department of Soil, Water and Environment, says a press release.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain was accorded with a reception at the board room of the university by the former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Engr. Aminul Hoque. Former chairman of Board of Trustees Prof Dr. A B M Shahidul Islam, where the Treasurer, Deans, Chairpersons, Advisors, Registrar and other senior officials were present. 

Prof. Hossain is one of the distinguished scholars in the country, who served in various capacities like Dean, Chairman, Provost, Syndicate Member and General Secretary of the Teachers Association of Dhaka University. Prof. Hossain awarded Post Doctoral Fellow from University of Aberdeen, UK.

Dr. Hossain has very brilliant academic achievements to his credit. He has first classes in all the public examinations through his academic career and he has received his PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia in 1993. Dr. Hossain is also a well-known researcher. He has many research publications in renowned national and international journals. He has about 37 years of teaching, research, and administrative experiences. He was born in the district of Munshigonj.
