BCL, students demand retake of DU Gha unit intake test
Dhaka University (DU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and general students today demanded retake of “Gha” unit admission test and punishment of those involved in question papers leakage, BSS reported.
Bangladesh Chhatra League, students’ front of the ruling Awami League, made a four-point demands which includes retake of Gha unit test after scrutiny or arrange special admission test for the admission seekers who passed the test, said a press release.
Their other demands include taking legal and administrative measures against the culprits involved in digital forgery or question leakage, cancellation of studentships of those who enrolled at the university through forgery and reforming admission process through coordination among all concerned of the university, the release said.
Expressing solidarity with the students, who staged demonstration on the campus over the issue, DU BCL general secretary Saddam Hussain demanded cancellation of the entry test.
The DU authorities published the results of “Gha” unit entry test on Tuesday where around 26 percent admission seekers have obtained pass marks in the test held on October 12.
Meanwhile, Akhtar Hossen, a 3rd year student of DU law department who has been continuing hunger strike at Raju Memorial Sculpture since the announcement of the results demanding fresh “Gha” unit exam, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as he became ill.
BCL and other student bodies expressed solidarity with Akhtar while DU proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, Law Faculty Dean Prof Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah and BCL DU unit’s general secretary Saddam Hussain met Akhter around 1:30 pm, and requested him to break strike, but he did not do so.
“We have tried to convince our beloved student Akhtar to break fast as his health condition is deteriorating gradually. We are demanding a proper solution of the crisis and exemplary punishment of the culprits involved in forgery,” Prof Rahmat Ullah told BSS.
