DU to observe Nazrul’s birth anniversary tomorrow

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities will observe the 119th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam tomorrow.

The DU has chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day. The programme of the day will begin with placing of wreaths by the teachers, students and staff of the university at the poet's grave on the university campus early in the morning, according to a news agency.

Earlier, all the members of the DU family will meet on Aparajeya Bangla sculpture premises at 6:15 am and bring out a colourful procession towards the poet's grave at 6:30 am.

A commemorating discussion programme will be held on the grave premises with DU Vice-Chancellor in the chair.

Nazrul researcher Prof Rafiqul Islam will address the programme. Chairperson of DU Bengali Department Prof Bismadeb Chowdhury will conduct the programme.
