Dhaka University’s 51st convocation on October 6

The 51st convocation of Dhaka University (DU) will be held on October 6, this year, said a DU press release today.

The decision was made at a meeting held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban with DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

A proposal has been placed to invite Liberian Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee as the chief guest. She will be conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the ceremony.

An executive committee, a managing committee and 26 sub-committees were formed at the meeting to arrange the ceremony properly, the release added.

University's senate and syndicate members, deans of faculties, directors of institutes, chairpersons of the departments, provosts of the residential halls, representatives of DU Teachers' Association and other chiefs of individual offices were present at the meeting.
