Pro-AL panel sweeps DU syndicate polls

Pro-Awami League 'blue panel' here today swept Dhaka University syndicate, academic council, and finance committee elections by securing 12 posts out of 13.

The white panel, backed by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, secured only one post, BSS reported.

Six representatives were elected to the syndicate while six to the academic council and one to the finance committee.

The elected syndicate members are Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal (Provost Category), Prof Dr Rahmat Ullah (Professor Category), Mohammad Humayun Kabir (Associate Professor), Dr Md Mijanur Rahman (Assistant Professor), and Jannatul Naima (Lecturer) from the Pro-AL blue panel and Prof Dr Md Hasanuzzaman (Dean Category) from the Pro-BNP Jamaat white panel.

The academic council members are Dr Alamgir Kabir, Dr Nepal Chandra Roy and Mohammad Ashraf Sadeq from Associate Professor Category while Farzana Ahmed, Saiful Alam Chowdhury, Shachita Guha from Assistant Professor Category.

Momtaz Uddin Ahmed was elected to the finance committee.

DU treasure Prof Dr Kamal Uddin was the chief election commissioner of the polls.
