All necessary steps taken to check question paper leakage: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said the government has taken all necessary measures to check question paper leakage in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations. 

"Guardians and examinees should remain alert against any propaganda regarding question paper leakage as a vested quarter may hamper peaceful atmosphere of HSC examinations," he told journalists after visiting an examination centre at the Siddeshwari Girls College here, an official release said. 

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain, additional secretary of the ministry Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed and Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Prof Muhammad Ziaul Haque, among others, were present on the occasion, reports BSS.

Alongside taking strong security measures, Nahid said the government has developed some innovative systems including introduction of lottery to choose question sets and special security envelopes so that the question papers are not leaked.

Exam centre secretary will be send SMS mentioning a specific set of question paper which will be opened twenty-five minutes before the examination, he said adding, "This system will prevent the attempt of question paper leakage in the ongoing HSC examination."

The HSC and its equivalent examinations of 2018 under ten education boards began on Monday across the country. A total of 13,11,457 examinees from 8,864 educational institutions are appearing in the examinations this year. Of them, 6, 35,697 are male and 5,47,989 female, said officials of the Education Ministry.
