Muktisangram cultural festival begins at JU Mar 25

A four-day Muktisangram Cultural Festival-2018 will begin on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on March 25.

Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of the university will arrange the festival marking the 48th Independence and the National Day, director of JU TSC Prof Bashir Ahmed told BSS today.

Noted artist and freedom fighter Shahabuddin Ahmed will inaugurate the festival while major (retd) Rafiquil Islam, Bir Uttam, will attend the function as the chief guest.

“In this festival, we will recall the Black Night of March 25 in 1971 when the Pakistani military forces conducted ‘Operation Searchlight’ and killed many Bengali members of East Pakistan Rifles and police, students and teachers as well as thousands of innocent people in Dhaka," Bashir said.

JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam will preside over the inaugural session of the festival.

The festival will end on March 28.
