3 DU students get Kaniz-e-Batul Scholarship
Three meritorious students of the Department of Urdu of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded ‘Professor Dr Kaniz-e- Batul Memorial Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic performances.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed the scholarship among the students as chief guest at a function at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Recipients of the scholarships are - Mst Alpona Akter, Tamanna Akter and Md. Rezaul Karim, reports BSS.
Paying glowing tribute to the memory of late Professor Dr Kaniz-e- Batul, VC Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, “She was a brilliant, honest and sincere teacher as well as a person possessing non-communal values.”
He urged the students to make themselves as worthy citizen by following the ideals of late Prof Kaniz-e-Batul.
Donor of the trust fund Syed Taki Mohammad and Chairman of the Department of Urdu Dr Rashid Ahmad addressed the programme.
Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the function.
Born in December 14, 1951, Dr Kaniz-e-Batul was a professor of the Department of Urdu of DU. She died on July 6, 2015 in Dhaka.
